Perfume Oil vs. Eau de Parfum: Which Should You Buy?

August 02, 2026

Both are excellent — they just behave differently. Here's how to choose.

Perfume oils

100% undiluted and alcohol-free. They sit close to the skin ("skin scent"), last the longest, and a single dab goes a long way. Perfect for the office, close settings, and anyone who finds sprays overpowering.

Eau de parfum (EDP)

Alcohol-based sprays. They project further and fill a room, which is ideal for events and going out. They're easy to apply quickly and refresh through the day.

Quick guide

  • Want intimacy and all-day wear? Choose a perfume oil.
  • Want presence and sillage? Choose an EDP.
  • Want both? Layer an oil under an EDP for depth and staying power.

Still unsure? Try a discovery set of three oils and find your family of scent.
